Responsible Textiles

We are gradually shifting our focus to designing clothes made from responsible textiles to counteract the fact that the fashion industry relies heavily on nature's precious resources. Traditional fabric and textile treatments can be harmful to nature, but organic as well as new state-of-the-art materials are emerging that leave a much lighter footprint. Moss Copenhagen is a certified responsible company, which means that our entire supplier chain of production is certified. We currently work with a range of responsible fibres including Lyocell, Lenzing™ Tencel™, Lenzing™ Ecovero™ Viscose and Organic Cotton and we use responsible certificates that include Global Recycled Standard (GRS), Responsible Down Standard (RDS), Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) and Responsible Mohair Standard (RMS).

Lyocell

Lyocell


Made from cellulose fibers, which are harvested from fast growing eucalyptus trees that require low water and pesticides to grow. Produced in a closed loop system, where it is possible to reuse almost 100% of chemicals as well as water.

Lenzing Tencel

Lenzing™ Tencel™


Made from wood harvested from responsible sources, where new trees are planted in the same speed and worker rights are prioritized. Produced in closed loop system, where it is possible to reuse almost 100% of chemicals as well as water. Tencel™ has an efficient moisture absorption and is very gentle to the skin.

Lenzing Tencel

Lenzing™ Tencel™


Made from wood harvested from responsible sources, where new trees are planted in the same speed and worker rights are prioritized. Produced in closed loop system, where it is possible to reuse almost 100% of chemicals as well as water. Tencel™ has an efficient moisture absorption and is very gentle to the skin.

Lenzing Ecovero Viscose

Lenzing™ Ecovero™ Viscose


Made from wood harvested from responsible sources, where new trees are planted in the same speed and worker rights are prioritized. Produced in closed loop system, where it is possible to reuse almost 100% of chemicals as well as water. Ecovero™ is certified with the EU Ecolabel as meeting high environmental standards throughout their life cycle: from raw material extraction to production, distribution, and disposal.

Recycled Polyester

Recycled Polyester


Made mainly from recycled PET plastic bottles. The production of recycled polyester does not use oil, which is a scarce resource on our planet, ie. it saves natural resources and energy as well as use of chemicals. It removes plastic from our nature, which might otherwise have ended there. It has a lower CO2 emission, and it uses a lot less water to produce than virgin polyester.

Is grown without the use of chemicals and fertilizers, which means it has a much lower impact on the environment. Uses less water in the long run, as when the soil is rich in natural nutrients it can retain the water better. Third-party certification organizations verify that organic producers use only methods and materials allowed in organic production.

Down


Yearly audits performed through all steps of the value chain. Global standard for animal welfare in birds farming. Ensures that the down/feathers come from birds, which have been raised with respect to the five animal freedoms. Ensures that live-plucking and force-feeding is forbidden, and the welfare of the birds are respected at all stages of the life. Ensures traceability to the farm.

Recycled Nylon

Recycled Nylon


Recycled nylon is derived from old nylon products, and a large part comes from old fishing nets. The plastic chips are from recycled materials and not derived directly from coal or petroleum, which means production uses much fewer resources than virgin nylon.

Produced in closed loop system, where it is possible to reuse almost 100% of chemicals as well as water. Lenzing™ Modal is comfortable, super soft, lightweight, breathable and durable when wearing.

Recycled Wool

Recycled Wool


Recycled wool is derived from wool, which has been shredded and then spun into new yarns ready to make new garments. This process helps reduce the number of garments going into waste after use and gives the wool new life instead.
